Boscombe Cliff Bowls Club created a record in the Bournemouth and District B A by now winning Division 1 league title for the seventh consecutive year. We also have teams competing each Saturday in Divisions 2 and 4 We have been encouraging visitors to try their hand at the game we love and have been successful in convincing them to become members who are then available for selection in some of the friendly matches against the numerous touring teams visiting the Bournemouth area during the year from all parts of the UK. Our members are also encouraged to try their skills in our club competitions, also the Hampshire BA and B & D BA Competitions. There are also placeseach Tuesday in the 4 Teams we field in the Evening Triples Leagues. The prestigious BOURNEMOUTH TOURNAMENT uses our green in the first week of August each year thus enabling our members to watch well known international bowlers from far and wide showing their competitive skills. Being one of the initial Lawn Bowls Clubs to be created in Bournemouth we celebrated the centenary of our green in 2004 with a visit by Ian Morrell, EBA Presidents and his very distinguished team of international players / officials at our picturesque green below./ The setting is easily found at the corner of Woodlands Avenue and the Southbourne Overcliff Drive which overlooks the sea.
The Pavilion which was erected in 1927 has been updated and paid for by our members over the last 4 years and now incorporates a small homely bar, much improved toilet facilities but anextremely small changing room. Patrons of the Public Café have benefitted from the new tables, chairs lighting and serving hatch installed in 2007. Paul and his staff welcome you for all breakfast, lunches teas and snacks from 9.00 till 5.00.
